Off-White Tall Chest of Drawers
This traditional tall chest of drawers is finished in an off-white painted tone paired with a contrasting neutral top surface. The case features one slim upper drawer across the top and five full-width drawers below. Each drawer is accented with raised panel molding and fitted with dark circular metal knobs, set between rounded corner pilasters over a molded base with turned bun feet.
Background Note
Vertical storage pieces known as tall chests gained prominence during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries to maximize storage in compact bedchambers. By stacking compartments vertically rather than horizontally, these upright case pieces offered substantial wardrobe space while conserving floor area. The incorporation of architectural cornice moldings, paneled drawer fronts, and turned feet reflects traditional French provincial elements that became central to twentieth-century American bedroom revivals.
