Pair of Carved Cypress Tables
Sold as a pair, these square low tables feature solid cypress plank tops mounted over carved hardwood bases. Each table is raised on cabriole-style legs accented with scrolled knees and block feet, connected by sweeping serpentine stretchers centered beneath the top.
Background Note
Cypress has long been celebrated in Southern cabinetry and woodworking for its natural concentration of cypressene oil, which grants the wood exceptional durability and natural resistance to rot and insects. Reclaimed old-growth cypress is frequently salvaged from historical structures and prized for its fine, dense growth rings and warm honey tones, making it a favored material for custom tabletops paired with classical French-inspired base forms.
