Painted Nine-Drawer Dresser Credenza
Finished in a deep slate blue paint, this credenza dresser features molded geometric paneling across six exterior drawers and a central cabinet door. The center door opens to reveal three finished interior wooden drawers, offering concealed organization alongside exterior storage. Antiqued brass-tone round knobs complement an ornate vertical escutcheon pull, accented by a molded top surface and a stepped plinth base.
Background Note
During the late 1960s and 1970s, American furniture manufacturers widely embraced Mediterranean and Spanish Revival design elements to provide a rich, decorative alternative to stark mid-century modern lines. Dressers and credenzas from this movement frequently concealed compartmentalized interior drawers behind formal architectural facades to preserve an orderly exterior appearance. These wide, low-profile cabinets were designed as versatile utility pieces, functioning equally well as bedroom dressers, dining sideboards, or living room storage credenzas.
